Courage to Change (2 Timothy 1:7, Philippians 3:7-8, 1 Corinthians 9:24-27, Romans 12:1-2)
James Colgan, February 6, 2011Part of the Fear vs Faith series, preached at a Sunday Morning service
Fear keeps us from embracing the changes required to live out God's plan for our lives.
Faith gives us the courage to embrace the change needed to live in all God has for us.
As Christians, we are called to step out in faith and embrace a continual process of transformation and change.

2 Timothy 1:7
7 for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. (ESV)
Philippians 3:7-8
7 But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. 8 Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ (ESV)
1 Corinthians 9:24-27
24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. 25 Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. 26 So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air. 27 But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified. (ESV)
Romans 12:1-2
12:1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. (ESV)
